A Little Help From My Friends...
Six years ago, marketing lecturer Alex Gibson was invited by
then-fledgling local radio station, Dublin City Anna Livia 103.2fm, to
host a weekly marketing programme. Armed with little more than a
microphone and a keen interest in topics ranging from advertising to
branding to public relations, The Persuaders took to the air in May 2000
and quickly established itself as essential listening for the city's
diverse marketing community. The arrival of podcast technology earlier this year has brought the show to a much wider audience who can listen when and where they want and The Persuaders Marketing Podcast is now downloaded each week by several thousand listeners worldwide. To reflect the show's growing reach and ambition, Alex has recently pulled together a back-room team to work with him in refining The Persuaders branding and programme structure, including Gerard Tannam of Islandbridge Brand Direction, Alan Bell of Adnet, Diana Bonfilio of Dcoy Design and Denis Goodbody of Adept Advertising. Gerard Tannam's thought-provoking 'Brief Word On Brand' has been a regular feature of the programme since 2001 and his imprint can be seen in the keener positioning of The Persuaders' brand and in the structure of the show, brand identity and style of presentation. Web Builders to the Design Industry, Adnet have worked closely with Alex and Gerard to create an online resource that reflects the programme's evolving dynamic, whilst native Bostonian Diana is responsible for The Persuaders striking new graphic identity. A copywriter by training and instinct, Denis has contributed to the production of the show as well as having his own feature where he muses on the strange world of marketing and advertising. With friends like that...

Plus an interview with Press Ombudsman, Professor John Horgan. Persuaders Postings4 March 2010 01:34pm There's a great video just posted today by iMediaConnection where Kevin Ryan interviews many of the delegates at the iMedia Summit. Among his door-stopped victims is Joseph Jaffe who has some interesing things to say about Twitter. From a perspective where he was a cheerleader of Second Life, he's much more sanguine about Twitter. And when someone as bullish about all things new on the internet says that I take notice. Personally I have found the utility I get from Twitter has gone somewhat, but as Jaffe notes, it has opened our eyes to the powerful opportunities to market in real time, to research in real time, and ultimately to build brands in real time. |

News4Media's operation in Ireland is headed up by Douglas Dalby, who left The Sunday Times in 2006 to form prangle.ie, a dedicated PR distribution service for Ireland. Having developed this platform to a commercial level, Douglas left Prangle.ie to head up News4Media.ie in September 2009.
